Permitting

To schedule an inspection please send an email request to inspections@lagrangega.org. Please include your name, project address, permit number, type of inspection you are requesting, and a good contact number. All requests received prior to 4:00 p.m. will have inspections performed the next business day excluding holidays and inclement weather.

Issuance of building permits is regulated by the Georgia Contractors Law, Title 43. Building permits are required for all work with the exception of:

  • Trim
  • Cabinetry
  • Painting
  • Carpeting

All other work requires permitting, unless otherwise notified.

Residential Contractor

Information required for permitting on Residential Structures:

  • Permit Application
  • Authorized Agent Permit Form
  • Address of project
  • Site layout showing set backs on additions and new structures
  • Square feet of new construction
  • Owner's name, address, city, state, zip and phone
  • Two complete copies of plans showing foundation, floor plan, elevations and wall section
  • Landscaping plan to zoning requirements for new construction

Owner may acquire permit on residential construction valued less than $2,500.00.

General Contractor

Information required for permitting on Commercial Structures:

  • Permit Application
  • Authorized Agent Permit Form
  • Address of project
  • Site layout showing set backs on additions soil erosion control, site development, and site utilities.
  • Two hard copies, and one electronic copy signed and stamped (including landscape drawing to tree ordinance) to be reviewed by Building Plan Review and Fire Marshal.
  • Evaluation (cost) of project and new construction area
  • Owner's name, address, city, state, zip, and phone

Permits required:

  • Electrical
  • Plumbing
  • Gas
  • Mechanical
  • Land disturbance (to GSWCC requirements)
  • Signs (include drawing) - separate permit
  • Plumbing (fire sprinkler and hood suppression systems)

Permits on commercial structures must be acquired by licensed trades.

Note: All permits must be posted

Inspections are required:

  • Temporary power poles
  • Footings, foundations and poured walls over 4 ft.
  • Any under slab piping
  • Structure wood framing
  • Light gauge metal framing
  • Insulation
  • Fire walls
  • Power on structure
  • No certificate of occupancy will be issued until all lanscaping is in place
