City Permits
Building permits are required on all structures, with the exception of:
- Installation of Roof Shingles
- Metal Roofing
- Painting
- Carpeting
All other work requires permitting, unless otherwise notified.
Information required for permitting on residential structures:
- Address of project
- Site layout showing set backs on additions and new structures
- Evaluation (cost) of project or square feet for new construction
- Owner's name, address, city, state, zip and phone
- Two copies of plans
Owner may acquire permit on residential structures,unless otherwise notified.
Information required for permitting on commercial structures:
- Address of project
- Site layout showing set backs on additions and new structures, complete set of building drawings
- Three copies of drawing signed and stamped (including landscape drawing to tree ordinance) to be reviewed by building inspections and fire marshal
- Evaluation (cost) of project/new construction square feet
- Owner's name, address, city, state, zip, and phone

Permit Request Form:(PRF)
The PRF is completed by an applicant in order to be considered for a permit on a project. The PRF requests may be submitted by mail, faxed or delivered in person to the Permits office. All pertinent information must be completed for the type of permit requested.
You may receive your Permit Card by mail, or you may elect to pick it up from the Permits office. A Permit Card will not be issued until payment is received.

Permit Price Sheet:(PPS)
Completing the PPS will allow an applicant to determine the cost of a permit. Upon receipt, the Permit's office will review, and confirm all data, and cost, after which, the applicant must submit payment in order to obtain permit.

Certification Semi-Monthly Erosion & Sediment Control Report:(CSE)
The CSE shall be prepared by a professional engineer, architect, land surveyor or CPESC in the State of Georgia. This report is required to be submitted not later than the 10th and 25th day of each month. If this report is not received by 5:00 p.m. on said dates, a Stop Work Order may be issued for the project. An applicant may elect to complete and submit the CSE electronically to the Building Office ,or fax it to 706-883-2048 , mail or deliver in person to the Building Office, found at 200 Ridley Avenue, LaGrange, Georgia 30240.

Land Disturbance Application (for local permit) , Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control:(LDA)
The LDA is completed for all land disturbance request, however, there is not a cost associated for land disturbances of less than an acre. Land disturbance greater than one (1) acre requires four (4) sets of drawings for erosion and sedimentation controls. These drawings are submitted to the Building and Life Safety Department for review.
Permitting fees are $33.00 for plans review and $11.00 per acre. An LD Permit is required to be attached with the Notice of Intent (NOI). The fee on the LDA is $40.00 per acre, in excess of acre.
National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) requires that a NOI be filed and a permit fee of $40.00 per acre be submitted. NPDES forms are to be sent directly to the state by the applicant.

City Construction Land Disturbance Fees: (CLD)
The CLD application is completed when the land to be disturbed is greater than an acre. In the event the land is greater than an acre, this form must be completed, and submitted with the (LDA). All cost associated with such fees must be submitted prior to the issuance of a permit.
